It may come as a surprise that the same pair of hands that builds Seed Smith also writes the software. We don't outsource this cruicial role to some boffin in an office on the other side of the world with no farming experience. This makes the development process loop extremely fast, and gives us the ability to modify code in the paddock during development. While you can technically do that and go seeding, it's only half a solution. Seed Smith gives you all the features that Topcon has including;

1. individual section timing latency

2. monitoring up to 32 metering wheel sensors

3. automatic packing pressure control with Pack Smith

4. additional fan/pump rpm sensor inputs

We use high quality industrial Bosch hardware to run the show. Our software is loaded onto an ECU and display, which provide the additional features to get the John Deere Rate Controller on a level playing field with Topcon. The display is compact enough to mount alongside your Gen 4 display and gives you a constant view of metering wheel status so you don't miss a thing.

Blockages are not only embarrassing but they cause massive weed burdens and cost you yield. If you already own an ICT, you know about the metering wheels. Each wheel has a sensor pointed at it, if any one of them stops when it should be turning, the operator is instantly alerted both audibly and visually including the location of the stopped metering wheel. This let's you fix the problem straight away, avoiding costly empty strips.

Latency is the time it takes (or delay) between sending an electrical signal to the section coil, and product hitting the ground. Section control systems are programmed to send this 'on' signal before the bar reaches uncovered ground so that you don't leave gaps. When you have 8 sections on a 60ft bar, the primary hose lengths are not uniform, and therefore sections on the outside wings have a longer latency than those in the middle by about 3 seconds. Seed Smith with clever software allows the user to enter unique lantency for each section to ensure minimal wastage. The John Deere Rate Controller on its own doesn't have this feature.

Anything attached to an air seeder cart is exposed to some pretty harsh conditions. We know it gives you nightmares thinking about electrical problems caused by a build up of fertilizer dust and a splash of FlexiN . That's why we use an IP66 rated cabinet to house all the important electronics. Made from top marine grade 316 stainless steel it's the best protection against corrosion, plus we mount all our plugs below deck to keep them as safe as possible

This is the heart of the Seed Smith. At the bottom is a John Deere Rate Controller 2000. This connects with your Gen 4 display. In the middle is a Bosch ECU. We program it with our own software to carry out functions like section latency, metering wheel sensor monitoring and Pack Smith downforce control. It connects to the Bosch display. On top is our custom circuit board housed in a Cinch enclosure. Not only does it look professional, it allows you to upgrade when new model Rate Controllers come out so you get a longer product life from your investment.

We take all the small scale components of resisitors, diodes and relays, mount them on our own printed circit board and seal them away inside a plastic box, inside an IP66 stainless cabinet. You get maximum longevity knowing the electronics are protected.

Seed Smith comes with a 5 year warranty, and installation is included. You are provided with a full manual including schematics. We are only a phone call away during seeding, and we are equiped to travel to farm.
